Who & Why of the Ultra 300 Challenge

Thanks for joining me on the Ultra 300 Challenge journey. I am running this challenge in memory of my Dad, Charlie Carter who passed away in 2010 at 60 years of age. I will attempt to run 50km every day for 6 consecutive days from 4th-9th November 2024 – a total of 300km covered across routes in Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare, Wexford, Waterford & Tipperary.

The final day of running will take place on 9th November, on the date that would have been Dad’s 75th birthday. I will start & finish the challenge in my home village of Gowran, Co. Kilkenny alongside family and friends.

My goal is to raise €60,000 in vital funds for 3 local & national organisations that are close to my heart for various reasons.

Dillon Quirke Foundation

The Dillon Quirke Foundation works to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and fund widespread cardiac screening for young people (aged 12-18) involved in sport.

Young Irelands GAA & Camogie Club, Kilkenny

David’s local GAA club, Young Irelands, where he spent a lot of time in his youth and where he, his father and brothers played and managed at all levels. Proceeds will be invested in facilities for current and future generations.
